At the end of 2009 there were 19 licensed non-life insurance companies in Taiwan, including 12 local insurance companies, 7 foreign insurance company branches.
The total direct written premiums for all non-life insurance companies slightly decreased from NT$107,731 million in 2008 to NT$101,859 million in 2009, with a negative growth rate of 5.45%.
