At the end of 2007 there were 21 licensed non-life insurance companies in Taiwan, including 15 local insurance companies, 6 foreign insurance company branches.
The total direct written premiums for all non-life insurance companies slightly decreased from NT$114,106 million in 2006 to NT$112,582 million in 2007, with a negative growth rate of 1.33%.
